Connecting Your Ripple Maker to the Internet

Ensuring your Ripple Maker is connected is essential for seamless printing. Below are the three primary methods to get online, along with troubleshooting steps.

1. Internal Wi-Fi

Use the built-in Wi-Fi receiver for standard wireless connections.

  • Navigate: Menu ≡ → Settings → Connectivity → Wi-Fi.

  • Action: Select your network, enter the password, and click Connect.

2. External USB Wi-Fi Dongle

If your machine is far from the router, an external dongle can extend your range. You can purchase the approved dongle at the Ripples Store.

  • Requirement: OS version 1.6.2+ and Software version 1.21.35+.

  • Setup: Insert the dongle into the USB slot on the back of the machine.

  • Navigate: Menu ≡ → Settings → Connectivity → Wi-Fi → Advanced.

  • Action: Toggle Connect via Dongle to ON, select your network, and enter the password.

3. Ethernet (LAN) Cable

For the most stable connection, we recommend a wired setup.

  • Setup: Plug a LAN cable into the RJ45 port on the back of the machine.

  • Automatic (DHCP): Menu ≡ → Settings → Connectivity → Ethernet → Toggle Auto to ON.

  • Manual (Static IP): Toggle Auto to OFF and click Edit to enter your Static IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS details (consult your IT specialist for these).

Testing Your Connection

To verify your Ripple Maker is online:

  1. Open the Menu (three horizontal lines).

  2. Tap Settings > Connectivity.

  3. Select Network Configuration and tap Network Check.

  • Success: You are ready to start printing!

  • Failure: Follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Troubleshooting & Network Requirements

Step 1: The Hotspot Test

To determine if the issue is with the machine or your local network:

  1. Enable a Mobile Hotspot on your phone.

  2. Try connecting the Ripple Maker to this hotspot.

    • If it connects: The Ripple Maker is functional. The issue lies with your local network/firewall (see "Network Configuration" below).

    • If it fails to connect: There may be a hardware issue. Please contact Ripples Support for assistance or replacement.

Step 2: Local Network Configuration (For IT Managers)

If your Ripple Maker cannot connect to the business Wi-Fi/LAN, your IT department may need to whitelist the device or open specific ports.

  • *.coffeeripplescn.com (China only)

  • *.cloudinary.com

  • *.azurewebsites.net

  • *.locize.io

3. MAC Address Filtering & Captive Portals: If your network uses MAC filtering or a captive portal (a login page), provide your IT team with the machine's MAC address.

  • Find MAC Address: Menu ≡ → Settings → Connectivity.
